Assignment Objective: Generate Summary Statistics and Inferential Statistics in SPSS. Data Source: GSS2018.sav Assignment Deadline: Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Assignment Specifics:
1. Download the GSS2018.sav dataset from the Dataset folder on the courses BlackBoard page NOTE: Using a thumb drive, flash drive, or portable hard drive would be very helpful since you will likely have to use the computers in the library to access SPSS. (As discussed in class, data saved locally on the library workstations are wiped clean every night, which means starting from scratch if you do not finish in one session or store your data/work on a thumb drive.) Prices for thumb drive range from $20.00 (120 GB thumb drive) to $335.00 (1 TB thumb drive)
2. Launch SPSS, locate the GSS2018.sav dataset and open the dataset. 3. Familiarize yourself with the variables in the dataset. (You may want to access the
Codebook GSS, located in the Lectures and Notes folder on the courses BlackBoard page to become more familiar with the variables in the dataset.)
4. Run descriptive statistics on five variables of your choice from the dataset. A. Be sure to paste the code you generate as you perform the assignment. B. Be sure that at least two of the variables that you run descriptive statistics on are scale variables. C. Be sure the descriptive statistics you run includes, the mean, standard deviation, standard error kurtosis and skewness for each one of your variables.
5. Run two crosstabs on any two nominal variables in the dataset. A. Be sure that you run a chi square, Phi and Cramers V as part of the crosstabs. B. Be sure to include the expected counts in your output. C. Be sure to past the syntax for the code you are generating into the syntax window. D. Provide an interpretation of the results of the output.
6. Run a Levenes F test (for homogeneity of means) using a scale variable (as a dependent variable) and a nominal variable (as a factor). A. Be sure to select homogeneity of variance test from the options. B. Be sure to past the syntax for the code you are generating into the syntax window. C. Provide an interpretation of the results of the output.

Assignment Notes: Please remember to generate SPSS syntax on all aspects of the assignment, and to use the syntax you have generated to create output. (As shown in class, SPSS syntax will appear in the output file that you will print out.) Method of Submission: Print out hard copies of SPSS Output including the syntax generated (I DO NOT NEED THE GSS.2018 DATA.) You can print out the portions of your output file imbedded into a Word document, or you can save your file in html for mat and print the relevant pages.
