In the same time period individuals who were overweight ranged around 35%. Data clearly indicates that being overweight or obese can have long term health consequences. This is a major concern not just in the United states but around the world. Medical expenditure Panel Survey indicates between 2005 and 2010 the cost of obesity rose from $212.4 billion to $315.8 billion. These costs have since risen steadily.
